In this scene from "The Wire," Springer Bell is seen sitting in an economics class learning about elasticity. When asked by the instructor for the key factors that affect consumers demand he responds, "desire and consumer need." Later, we see him managing a copy and print shop. Springer takes what he has learned inside the classroom and applies it to the business. He tells his staff that they are selling a product with elastic demand and that they can't have any attitude because if they don't get the job done the customers will just go somewhere else. This is a fantastic clip to show in when explaining perfect competition.
